The YNew York Yankees winning streak sits at six games and may climb to seven on Thursday afternoon. It seems that the Yankees finally have it all going at full speed. Sure, the loss of Chien-Ming Wang hurt them and may continue to hurt them but right now they’re full speed ahead. And with Joba Chamberlain on the mound that hurt can feel a lot less if Joba pithes well.

Right now pitching isn’t too big of a deal for the Yankees because they are hitting the ball like crazy. But eventually it will be important for them. But if they continue to get good pitching from Mike Mussina then you know Andy Pettite will show-up to pitch when it counts. Then Joba Chamberlain needs to pitch well too. If the Yankees can get consistent starts from those three then they should be okay. And they should continue to gain ground on the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox.

Speaking of the Rays, they’re battling it out with the Chicago Cubs right now. Could this be a preview of the World Series? Probably not but the fact that it’s even being mentioned is pretty amazing.

So far the Rays have gotten the better of the match-up. The Rays have won both games by the slimest of margins.

These two teams will meet again on Thrusday night at Tropicana Field in Tampa. The Rays are gaining confidence all the time and a sweep of the Cubs would elevate the Rays’ confidence even more.

Things are really beginning to shakeout a little more now. Some teams who people thought would fade like the Rays are hanging in there and other teams who started out poorly like the Yankees are starting to put it together.
